Hello, hello! I’m so excited to get to chat with you about my book, Of Shadows & Starlight. But first, let me introduce myself.

About Me

My name is Sophia, and I’ve been writing and telling stories for as long as I can remember. One of the first stories I ever wrote featured my younger sister turning into a werewolf and trying to eat me – solid, grade school gold, if you ask me. Now, I write steamy historical and fantasy romances. No matter the genre, I write feisty heroines, alpha heroes, and steamy stories.

When I’m not writing, I love gardening, crafting, and doing anything outdoors with family and friends. We live on a lake (in a hopeless fixer-upper), and I don’t come inside except for food and sleep during the summer. Even then, it’s with great reluctance.

About My Book

Of Shadows & Starlight is THE BOOK. This is the book that I’ve been waiting twenty years to write, the one that made me start writing in the first place. You guys, I’ve created languages, world histories, trade routes, and entire villages down to the person. The first in a five-book series, I invite you into a world I’ve spent most of my life building. Filled with magic, dragons, epic battles, and a steamy romance, Of Shadows & Starlight is sure to keep you up way past bed time.

The story follows Miirik Si’rith, daughter and granddaughter of goddesses, as she tries to break free from the shadow of her illustrious family and pursue her dream of attending the Kelyrian Academy–the most prestigious school for sorcerers in the world. I’ve included the full blurb at the end of this post for you 😀.

Miirik’s character was inspired by the first Dungeons and Dragons character I played in my husband’s game. I joined their group as a freshman in high school when we started dating, and he told me to write up a little backstory for my character. One thing led to another, and my “little” backstory became a fifteen page short story. But then I had this idea for another adventure. And what if there was a kingdom here? Before I knew it, I was outlining my first real book and worldbuilding like mad. By the time I finished graduate school, I had a finished draft (that shall never, ever see the light of day).

I’m writing book two as we speak, which will release at the end of May 2024. Fun fact: The heroine of book two was also inspired by a D&D character I played!

If you’re interested in getting a taste of my writing, you can read a free prequel novella, Of Secrets & Spells, when you sign up for my monthly newsletter here, and all my books are in Kindle Unlimited, if that’s your jam.

That’s all for now, folks! Thank you so much for stopping by, and thank you to the amazing Cameron Allie for hosting me.

Happy Valentine’s Day!

Xoxo,

Sophia

Of Shadows & Starlight

Miirik Si’rith spent the entirety of her twenty years knowing she would never be enough. The disappointing descendent of powerful goddesses, her own powers still haven’t manifested.

The granddaughter of the Goddess of Magic with no magic to speak of.

When Miirik is wounded while fighting one of the dragon invaders, her magic finally appears–and with it, the realization that her entire life has been a lie. She escapes to the Kelyrian Academy under a pseudonym to hone her newfound talents in blissful anonymity.

As she learns to control her magic and struggles to catch up with the other students, Miirik discovers a glittering world of spells and secrets, where everyone is watching and no one can be trusted. Especially Ardos, the only student in the academy who can tell that she’s hiding something. Miirik’s first instinct is to avoid him and spare herself from his scrutiny altogether.

But Miirik knows that Ardos is hiding something, too.

When a dragon shifter is discovered amongst the academy’s students and a plot to murder the gods arises, chaos erupts in the city. Now Miirik must continue to hide her identity to protect her life as they hunt down the godslayer, and the secrets Ardos keeps could become her salvation or her demise.

Of Shadows & Starlight is a spicy enemies-to-lovers fantasy romance with a HEA. The fantasy plot continues in the next book.
