Many of the new-to-me authors we’ve had over the past month are compliments of PA Renee, so shout out to her for connecting me with all these wonderful authors! Allysa Hart is here to tell us about her newest release Katie’s New Daddy, she also chatted a bit with me about her writing style and her thoughts on true love.

So let’s get to know Allysa!

1. Tell us a little bit about yourself.

I write emotion filled stories with yummy BDSM sprinkled in. I have always loved writing. I used to pen stories in elementary school, but I was hopeless at illustrations so I stopped. After college I rediscovered my love for reading and started devouring romance books like crazy. The stories started coming to me and I just followed suit and began writing. Best decision I have ever made.
This author stuff is a wild ride, let me tell you.
I am also a graphic designer. I make all kinds of things for authors in all genres it’s my passion, my therapy, and it really helps when the words just are not flowing.

2. Can you tell us a little bit about your latest release/upcoming release? And what readers can expect when they open one of your books?

My newest release, Katie’s New Daddy has been a year in the making. It is the sequel to the very emotional story, Adopting Katie. It was difficult to write. Every time I sat down to try, another story would come out. Katie simply wasn’t ready for the rest of the story to unfold. (Yes I talk about my characters like they are real people.)

When a reader opens my books they can expect two things, spankings, and emotions. I like to write about things that other stories avoid. I can’t help it. I know it’s a good story if I cry while I am writing it and the tears vary from happy to devastatingly sad.

3. Do you believe in true love? In soul mates?

Yes, I believe there is someone special out there for each and every one of us.

4. Is there any particular author or book that influenced you in any way, either growing up or as an adult?

As a child I loved to read SE Hinton and the babysitters club books.

5. Does/has anything in real life influence your writing? (Life experiences, films, books, celebrities, music, places, etc.)

Everything around me influences my writing. It could be something I see on Facebook, a conversation I have with a friend, or anything I read or hear. Sometimes even television shows spur ideas.

6. What do you find to be the most difficult part of the writing process?

Well, to be honest, none of it is easy. It’s hard to make time to write. When there is time there may not be a story ready to be told. In the middle of a story I question everything about what I am doing, but I have some amazing author friends that keep me going. Then after the writing comes editing. Editing is really really difficult. I think the most difficult thing is self promotion. We have to do a lot to support other authors as well as promote ourselves. It is time consuming and it’s difficult to find a balance.

Blurb:

The highly anticipated sequel to Adopting Katie is here!

Widowed mother Katelyn Summers, knows her husband would have wanted her to move on and find happiness for herself and a father for their infant son. Knowing that doesn’t make doing it any easier, and she is spiraling fast as she struggles with balancing her new normal with her old wants and needs.

Jeff has always been a natural leader, controlling all aspects of his life with a confidence that rivals no other. When a failed marriage crumbles that confidence, he leaves his entire world behind and loses himself in his work. Nothing can bring him home, until he meets her.

Can these two help each other move on from their painful pasts and into their happily ever after together? How does Katie’s unique family fit into the mix? Can you really have your cake and eat it too?

This is a snip from the beginning of Katie’s New Daddy. Katie has been avoiding the salon because she is not ready for the questions of the fast-lipped stylists. I love this scene because Cherie is an awesome supporting character and her love for Katie really shines through.

Excerpt:

“Woo-woo, look what the cat dragged in. Girl, you better not have let anyone else cut this beautiful hair.” Cherie welcomed Katie with a strong embrace. “We have missed you. Rosie brought in pictures of your sweet angel. Woman, you don’t even look like you had a baby. You’re lucky I’m so nice, or I would hate your ass right now. After I had my Max, I looked pregnant for the entire first year of his life.” She chattered on and on, and Katie found herself comforted by the fast-lipped stylist. Cherie took her back to the shampoo bowls and soaked her hair in blissfully hot water, spending a long time massaging the soap deep into Katie’s scalp.

“What’s kept you away, girl?”

She shrugged. “No reason in particular. I have just been busy.”

“You should never get too busy to take care of yourself. Your butt should be in my chair every six weeks, you hear what I’m saying?” Cherie raised an eyebrow, and Katie swore she saw “Domme” written all over her expression.

“Yes, ma’am.” She giggled.

“Ma’am, huh? I could get used to that.” With a wink, she went about finishing up Katie’s wash.

“I think I want something totally different.” Katie looked at her long red hair in the mirror. “I don’t have time to deal with this anymore. How about we cut it all off?”

Cherie gripped her chest in horror. “You want to…you want to…dear Jesus take me now. Cut it all off? Girl, are you trying to send me to an early grave? No, just no. You want different, I got you, but you want to ‘cut it all off,’ and there’s the door.”

Katie’s eyes opened wide in the mirror. “You’re serious, aren’t you?”

“Serious as Sunday fried chicken.”

“Okay, okay, geez. I trust you. Just make it easy to deal with, please.”

“You got it. Now, hush and let me work.”

“Fine.” Katie used her fingers to “zip her lips.” Crossing her arms across her chest, she gave a smug look to her longtime friend.

Cherie spun her chair around, leaving Katie face-to-face with her generous chest, planted her hands on her hips, and leveled a glare. Waving one hand in the air, she commanded, “Oh no you don’t. That’s not what I meant, and you damn well know it. Unzip those lips and start flappin’. What have you been doing with yourself?”

Katie giggled as she went through the motion of unzipping her lips. “Well then, what do you wanna know?”

Cherie grinned and spun her back to face the mirror. “Everything.”
